The Tairora coffee is a result of a liaison between the Baroida Estate and its surrounding smallholder communities. The estate is owned and run by the Colbran family, based in Papua New Guinea’s Eastern Highlands. Ben Colbran acquired the Baroida Estate in the 1960s incentivized by the local government to attract foreign agriculturist investing in the land. The estate is not only a plantation but also a central washing station. The coffee producers around the estate sell their cherries to the Baroida mill for processing. The Colbrans offer extensive outreach, pre-finance, and technical support to their suppliers in order to secure the best fruit in the region. Doing so, the Colbrans source coffee cherries from the nearby village called Kobuta. Without the means to organize all the smallholders into a cooperative, the Tairora coffee shows it is possible to bundle forces into cooperation and to increase quality to obtain a better price in a difficult and complex environment.
A super juicy tropical fruitbomb! Lychee and pine nut aroma., Tasting I'm experiencing intens sweet passionfruit, mango jam en vibrant mandarin acids. As we've seen before with extreme fruity coffee's I would recommend this in milk drinks...
