History of Tumsong Tea Garden
Tumsong Tea Estate is one of Darjeeling’s historic tea gardens, with a rich legacy dating back to 1867. Established by J. A. Wernicke, the estate began as a 200-acre plantation, but gradually expanded to its current area of approximately 186 hectares by incorporating nearby lands.

Its name, “Tumsong,” is believed to be derived from Tamsa Devi, a Hindu goddess whose temple graces the region. This spiritual connection has earned Tumsong its reputation as “The Garden of Happy Hearts,” symbolising its serene environment and cultural significance within the community.

When brewed correctly, Tumsong’s Darjeeling  tea delivers a delightful sensory experience. The liquor presents a pale golden hue, signifying the tea’s exceptional quality and delicate processing.
